In Video: There is Nothing Greater Than Kuwait

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef affirmed that “there is no greater nation than Kuwait,” during a ceremony honoring officers of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics who played a key role in thwarting the largest operation of its kind in the country’s history to manufacture and traffic “Larica,” a psychoactive substance. He awarded them incentives in recognition of their security efforts, professionalism, and vigilance in uncovering the case and arresting those involved.

Al-Yousef told the honored officers, “I don’t just want to say that I am proud of you as Minister of Interior; all of Kuwait is proud of you and the work you have accomplished. Naturally, at the forefront of everyone is His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, may God protect and guard him; His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect him; and His Highness the Prime Minister. All of them are proud of you, just as all Kuwaiti families are proud. You have saved their children from a quantity of drugs that has never before entered Kuwait. God knows what would have happened to our youth—your brothers, children, and daughters—if we had allowed it to remain in the country for any period of time.”

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the case would not end with this arrest, and that all leads would be pursued to identify everyone involved in importation or distribution. He added, “There is no one too powerful; we have no connections, and there is no one we can shield or protect.”

Al-Yousef Tells Honored Anti-Narcotics Officers: All of Kuwait Is Proud of You, with His Highness the Amir, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister at the Forefront

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef honored officers of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics who were instrumental in thwarting the largest operation of its kind in the history of the State of Kuwait to manufacture and traffic “Larica,” a psychoactive substance. He awarded them incentives in appreciation of their dedicated security efforts and the professionalism and vigilance they demonstrated in uncovering the case and arresting those involved.

During the ceremony, Al-Yousef addressed the honored officers, saying, “I don’t just want to say that I am proud of you as Minister of Interior; all of Kuwait is proud of you and the work you have accomplished.”

Naturally, at the forefront of all are His Highness the Amir of the Country, may God protect and safeguard him; His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect him; and His Highness the Prime Minister. I am convinced that they, like every Kuwaiti family, are proud of you, for you saved their children from a quantity of drugs that has never before entered Kuwait. God knows, if we had left it unchecked for a period of time, what would it have done to our youth, among whom are your brothers, children, and daughters?

He added, “Our role is to expose the criminals and hand them over to the judiciary. Kuwait deserves more than we give it; it has given us more than we are currently able to give in return. Thus, no matter what we do to repay Kuwait’s kindness to us, we will still feel we have fallen short.”

He continued, “I do not want this arrest to be the end of our efforts. As of this morning, I have been speaking with your leaders regarding the matters we are investigating in connection with the case. All leads must be followed, and everyone involved in the importation or distribution must be exposed. There is no one too high-ranking; we have no connections, nor do we have anyone we can shield.”

Al-Yousef said, “I believe my message was clear from the first day I assumed office at the Ministry of Interior. The directive from His Highness the Amir was unequivocal: there is no one greater than Kuwait. This is both my personal support and the support of the lowest-ranking officer in the Ministry of Interior.”

He added, “The main suspect has been saying for eight years—eight years, and I do not merely think but am certain—that when I met him and asked him, ‘Why haven’t you shipped the quantity you have ready?’ he replied, ‘I am afraid.’ Afraid of the narcotics law and afraid of you. Why? Because our eyes are currently wide open.”

He emphasized, “We are receiving absolute support from His Highness the Amir, precisely because we do not intend to relax or allow any criminal or smuggler any opportunity to operate in Kuwait.”

Al-Yousef concluded, “May God grant you success, and may you achieve even greater progress.”

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that this recognition aligns with the Ministry’s policy of honoring outstanding individuals and motivating security personnel, thereby enhancing readiness and reinforcing a spirit of dedication and loyalty in the performance of duties.
