Warba and Amanea Sign Strategic Partnership

In a move reflecting their shared commitment to supporting sustainable development and enhancing corporate social responsibility, NBK and Amena signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding the scope of cooperation in implementing environmental initiatives designed to promote a culture of sustainability and encourage the community to adopt eco-friendly practices, thereby contributing to national efforts to protect natural resources and enhance the quality of life for future generations.

This partnership stems from both parties’ belief in the importance of joint institutional action and the role of the private sector in actively contributing to sustainable development through launching initiatives with tangible impacts that transcend the traditional concept of corporate social responsibility, becoming an integral part of the national development system that balances economic growth with environmental preservation.

NBK continues to consolidate its position as a financial institution that places great emphasis on sustainability, by adopting initiatives and projects that enhance positive environmental and social impact and support sustainable development goals, driven by the conviction that economic development is inseparable from environmental conservation, and that true investment begins with building a more aware and sustainable society.

The memorandum of understanding embodies this approach, contributing to enhanced cooperation with specialized national entities in the environmental field, which positively reflects on the community and strengthens the culture of community participation in addressing environmental challenges.

For his part, Ayman Salem Al-Mutairi, Senior Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at NBK, stated that under the memorandum of understanding, NBK will support the environmental programs and activities implemented by Amena, including specialized initiatives for the collection and recycling of plastic, which are among the most prominent initiatives contributing to waste reduction, mitigating environmental impacts, and promoting the circular economy, in line with global best practices in environmental conservation.

These initiatives also aim to raise environmental awareness among various segments of society and encourage individuals and institutions to adopt responsible practices in waste management and recycling, thereby contributing to reducing carbon emissions and preserving natural resources.

In the same context, Sanaa Al-Ghumlas, CEO of Amena, said: “The partnership includes supporting the fourth edition of the ‘Amena School’ initiative for the 2026-2027 academic year, which is a leading national initiative in promoting a culture of sustainability among school students by involving them in educational programs and practical activities that enhance the concept of recycling and environmental conservation.”

Al-Ghumlas added: “The initiative focuses on instilling positive environmental behaviors in students from early educational stages, contributing to preparing a generation more aware of the importance of environmental conservation and capable of contributing to achieving a sustainable future. It also measures the environmental impact of the initiative by tracking the quantities of plastic collected and assessing the resulting reduction in carbon emissions and preservation of environmental spaces.”

The memorandum of understanding reflects the importance of strategic partnerships between the financial sector and institutions specialized in environmental work, serving as a model of integration that contributes to launching distinctive initiatives with sustainable impact and supporting the achievement of national objectives in the fields of sustainability and environmental protection.
