Barcola joins Liverpool for €145 million

Liverpool has signed French international striker Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions in the past two seasons, on a long-term deal in a transfer valued at €145 million, according to his new club. The English club stated in a press release: “Liverpool has completed the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, pending the necessary international work permit.” It added: “The player has signed a long-term contract with the club at the AXA Training Centre after passing his medical examination and completing the transfer formalities.”

Liverpool did not disclose details of the deal for the 23-year-old, but a source close to PSG told AFP that the fee amounts to “€125 million (£107 million, $145 million), plus €20 million in add-ons that are highly likely to be triggered.” This brings the total value of the transfer to £124 million (€145 million), making it Liverpool’s second-expensive signing in the club’s history, behind Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who cost the Reds £125 million when signed from Newcastle United.

Barcola’s move also marks the highest-value transfer in Ligue 1 history for a player moving abroad.
