Kuwait U-23s lose to Saudi Arabia and finish sixth at the Asian Championship

Yaqoub Al-Awadi: Our national team lost to the Saudi Arabian team by a score of 21-31 in the match held yesterday evening as part of the fifth-to-sixth place improvement competition at the 11th Asian Junior Championship, hosted in Jordan. With this result, the “Blue Team” concluded its campaign in the tournament in sixth place.

Our team failed to replicate its 30-28 victory over Saudi Arabia in the group stage, which had secured their qualification for the quarter-finals. The “Blue Team’s” preparations for the championship included an external training camp in Slovenia, where they played several friendly matches, followed by an internal training camp at “Arena Mall,” during which they faced the Bahraini national team.

The preparation plan faced an obstacle when the technical staff was changed due to the resignation of former Croatian coach Ivan, who cited personal circumstances for his decision not to continue.
