Municipality: Decline in encroachments on state property due to increased public awareness of regulations and laws

The Kuwait Municipality confirmed that the significant decline in the number of encroachments on state land is due to the heightened awareness among citizens and residents, as well as their understanding of municipal bylaws and regulations.

Mohammed Al-Jalawi, a member of the central team at the Director General’s Office of the Municipality, praised the cooperation of citizens and residents with the municipality’s campaign “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” noting that the highest rates of voluntary removals during the campaign were carried out willingly by them and through their efforts.

Al-Jalawi stated that the monitoring and removal campaign continues daily in several governorates through field teams, expressing gratitude to government entities that have collaborated with the municipality since the campaign’s inception, namely the Ministries of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs.

He clarified that the campaign initially focused on removing the most prominent encroachments, such as erecting green fences around house setbacks or building diwaniyas on sidewalks, which were among the most serious violations posing risks to neighbors and contributing to a rise in traffic accidents. He added that violations in residential areas threatened pedestrian safety, obstructed visibility, and presented an uncivilized appearance.

The municipality encouraged citizens and residents to follow its official social media accounts to benefit from awareness messages and guidelines that will be published regularly, and to contact the municipality to inquire about any regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating their procedures and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
