Trump: We will deliver a strong strike against Iran.. Current sanctions on it "are bearing fruit strongly"

US President Donald Trump said that the United States would respond to the Iranian attack that targeted US forces in Jordan, affirming that Washington would launch a “strong strike” against Tehran. In comments to Fox News, Trump added that Washington had intercepted all Iranian missiles launched by Tehran, except for one that “posed no threat.” He noted that the Iranians “strongly desire to hold a meeting,” but he cast doubt on the possibility of “trusting them to reach an agreement,” adding that current US sanctions imposed on the Iranian regime “are beginning to bear strong fruit.”

The US president had previously stated that Iran has officially become a “failed state,” pointing out that it no longer has a navy or air force, and its currency has become worthless. Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social: “Iran has officially become a failed state; it is a dead country! It has no navy, no air force, and no valuable currency. It does not pay the salaries of its soldiers or police officers. Its inflation rate has reached 300%, and its leadership is in a state of complete confusion and inability to properly represent the country.”

He added: “The only thing Iran has is fake news and a readiness to kill protesters (where the number of dead has now exceeded 100,000 people, and those who killed them must be prosecuted for crimes against humanity!).” He concluded: “Not to mention their expertise in spreading nonsense and lies. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

For his part, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Washington would continue to pressure Iran, noting that Tehran takes the sanctions seriously. Bessent added that Tehran is “launching a fierce attack because it is losing economically.”
