Kuwait officials continue preparations for the Blue Team in Slovenia ahead of the Asian Games scheduled for September 18 in Japan. The technical staff, led by coach Aaron Christensen, has focused on physical conditioning and raising the intensity of both technical and physical performance. The staff is preparing players through friendly matches during the current training camp and is putting the final touches on the squad that will compete in the tournament.
The national team will return to Kuwait on September 3, resuming training and preparations until their departure on September 9. They will then hold a nine-day training camp in Japan before the start of the anticipated competitions.
The draw placed Kuwait in Group 2 alongside Bahrain, Iran, Kazakhstan, and South Korea. The Blue Team aims to advance from the group stage, which begins with a match against Iran on September 19, followed by a game against South Korea on September 21, then a clash with Kazakhstan on September 22, and concluding the group stage with a match against Bahrain on September 23.
In this context, national teams director Faisal Saywan said, “We have several players capable of realizing and translating our ambitions into reality. Through them, we aim to advance from the group stage and compete for one of the top three positions in the tournament.”
He added, “Training has seen strong competition and outstanding player performance, particularly in implementing the directives of the administrative and technical staff.” He noted that everyone is striving to raise the name and flag of Kuwait at the upcoming international event, while acknowledging the difficulty and intensity of the task given the high technical level of the participating teams.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti U-19 national team will face Saudi Arabia at 2:00 PM today to determine sixth place in the AFC U-19 Championship, which is being held in Jordan.
