Kuwait University Completes Preparations for the Start of the New Academic Year: Strengthening the Security and Safety System and Enhancing Readiness

Alaa Khalifa: The Director of the Security and Safety Department at Kuwait University, Yousef Al-Thamir, confirmed that the department has completed its preparations to launch the new academic year 2026/2027 as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at providing a safe university environment and enhancing readiness in the Sabah Al-Salem University City, coinciding with the welcome of students and the return of university staff. He noted that these preparations are supported and monitored by the university administration, as part of its efforts to prepare various facilities and services to ensure an organized and safe start to the academic year.

Al-Thamir explained that the department is working to strengthen the security and safety system, raise readiness levels, and maintain continuous coordination, thereby facilitating the movement of students and staff within the university campus. This includes activating the new student ID cards and intensifying awareness and guidance messages that help familiarize the community with safety procedures, services, routes, and facilities, while reinforcing the concept of shared responsibility in maintaining the security and safety of the university community.

He added that the department has developed a comprehensive digital content strategy for social media platforms for the period from July to September, aimed at developing awareness messages and enhancing their reach to various segments of the university community in a modern and interactive manner that contributes to transforming knowledge of security and safety procedures into daily practices.

He clarified that the strategy is based on four main pillars: “Did You Know?”, “Aman” (Safety), “Bo Masar” (Go Path), and “Events and Achievements”. The “Did You Know?” pillar presents security facts and practical guidelines in a simplified manner, while “Aman” focuses on digital safety, raising awareness about the risks of cyber fraud, and protecting privacy and personal accounts. Meanwhile, “Bo Masar” provides an interactive guide for safe navigation within the university campus, introducing transportation services, routes, and facilities to facilitate the experience of students and staff and enhance their safety.

Al-Thamir pointed out that the “Events and Achievements” pillar highlights the initiatives, programs, training workshops, partnerships, and achievements implemented by the department, alongside seasonal content that aligns with various occasions and enhances communication with the university community. He emphasized that, with the support of the university administration, the department seeks to leverage modern communication tools to spread a culture of security and safety and enhance preventive awareness, thereby supporting the university’s readiness and providing a safe and sustainable educational environment.
