Establishment of the Customs Follow-up and Coordination Directorate to Process Procedures for Imported Medical Devices and Supplies

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Minister of Health, has established a new organizational unit at the directorate level, titled “Directorate of Customs Follow-up and Coordination,” which reports directly to the Deputy Minister of Health. The Directorate of Customs Follow-up and Coordination is responsible for the following tasks and competencies:

- Monitoring and completing customs procedures related to shipments, materials, devices, and medical supplies imported by the Ministry and its affiliated entities.

- Coordinating with the General Customs Administration and relevant regulatory authorities to facilitate the clearance of shipments and materials belonging to the Ministry.

- Monitoring the completion of documents and requirements necessary for customs clearance procedures, in coordination with the relevant departments within the Ministry.

- Tracking customs transactions and requests and ensuring their completion within specified timeframes.

- Coordinating among concerned entities inside and outside the Ministry regarding matters related to customs procedures.

- Monitoring obstacles and observations related to customs procedures and working to address them with the relevant authorities.

- Preparing periodic reports and statistics on customs follow-up and coordination activities.

- Establishing and updating databases and records related to customs transactions and procedures.

- Monitoring the implementation of decisions, directives, and regulations governing customs procedures relevant to the Ministry’s work.

- Representing the Ministry in meetings, committees, and task forces related to customs affairs, as needed.
