Harry Potter Returns to Venice: Tilted Chair Available for 50 Euros as an Alternative to Hotels During Peak Crowds

Between the magic of Hogwarts and the reality of searching for accommodation amid overcrowding, Venice is preparing for cinematic days that evoke nostalgia for one of the world’s most famous films, with twists as thrilling as those outside the screening rooms.

On September 1, the Venice Film Festival celebrates the 25th anniversary of the cinematic launch of the Harry Potter series with a special screening of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” which first hit screens in 2001.

The screening is part of the “Return to Hogwarts” celebrations, and the film will also be shown in Italian cinemas until September 2. As fans of the series prepare to relive memories of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, some workers and visitors at the Venice Film Festival face a more down-to-earth problem: finding suitable accommodation on the Lido island.

According to the Corriere del Veneto, high demand coinciding with the 83rd edition of the Venice Film Festival, scheduled from September 2 to 12, has led to unusual lodging options, including a reclining chair offered for sleeping at 50 euros per night. The newspaper also reported another accommodation option in a small mobile hut originally intended for shepherds.

Thus, Venice currently presents two contrasting scenes: on screen, the Hogwarts Express prepares to depart once again after a quarter-century, while outside, the real adventure may begin with the attempt to find a bed.
