Egypt and Turkey Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments and Efforts to Contain Escalation

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to discuss the latest developments in regional affairs and efforts to contain the current escalation. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a statement on Saturday that the two ministers emphasized during the call the importance of intensifying efforts aimed at achieving de-escalation and reducing tensions, and working to restore the diplomatic and negotiating track between the United States and Iran. The two ministers also reaffirmed, according to the statement, their commitment to the Islamabad Memorandum, which helps create an environment conducive to reaching comprehensive and sustainable understandings that would contribute to consolidating regional security and stability.
