Secretaries-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Discuss Ways to Enhance Bilateral Partnership and Coordination

The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Bedaiwi, discussed ways to enhance bilateral partnership and coordination between the Organisation and the GCC. The Organisation’s General Secretariat stated in a press release that this came during a telephone call on Saturday in which Ould Cheikh received a call from Al-Bedaiwi. The statement added that Al-Bedaiwi conveyed his warmest congratulations to Ould Cheikh on his election as Secretary-General of the Organisation, expressing his best wishes for his success and prosperity in leading joint Islamic efforts in the coming period. Al-Bedaiwi reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to providing all forms of support to the Organisation’s new Secretary-General and backing efforts aimed at continuing the path of cooperation and solidarity. For his part, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the GCC Secretary-General, commending the pivotal role of GCC member states in supporting the Organisation’s initiatives. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordinating positions in a manner that serves shared issues and interests.
