Trump hopes to have his name given to a lunar landmark

US President Donald Trump expressed his hope that one of the lunar landmarks would be named after him. This came during his visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, after he presented the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four American astronauts who formed the Artemis 2 crew. Speaking about lunar features, Trump said he hoped “they would name something after me.” During the visit, Trump welcomed US astronaut Reid Wiseman, commander of the Artemis II mission, noting that one of the craters on the Moon had been named after Carol, Wiseman’s wife, who died of cancer, adding that the Moon would preserve her memory. During the visit, Trump signed an executive order establishing a US Space Academy, as part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen the United States’ position in space exploration.
