Kuwait participates in the Paris Electricity Conference 2026 and reviews several international experiences in electricity markets and energy exchange

A Kuwaiti delegation participated in the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, one of the world’s premier global gatherings specializing in power systems, which brings together a select group of experts, specialists, and decision-makers from various countries.
The delegation was led by Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy. It included Eng. Adhari Al-Mohammad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CIGRE Gulf, Eng. Sanaa Al-Gharib, Board Member of CIGRE Gulf, Dr. Abeer Al-Maimouni, Representative of Kuwait University, along with several engineers from the Ministry and specialists in the fields of electricity and energy.
The delegation reviewed the latest studies and technologies for the development and operation of power systems, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-forming technologies, and advanced monitoring, measurement, and control systems. Additionally, they examined international case studies in electricity markets, energy exchange, digital solutions, and the integration of renewable energy sources.
The delegation also toured the accompanying technical exhibition, which features participation from more than 330 global specialized companies. They explored the latest equipment and solutions in high and medium voltage systems, protection, monitoring, control systems, and digital technologies.
The delegation held several technical meetings with representatives of international organizations and specialized companies to exchange expertise and explore cooperation opportunities in the development of the power system and the adoption of modern technologies.
The participation also included the receipt of the award for the winning research paper, submitted by the GCC Power Interconnection Organization. Dr. Adel Al-Zamil, in his capacity as a board member of the organization, accepted the award on behalf of the organization, in recognition of the paper’s distinguished technical and scientific contribution.
This participation aligns with the efforts of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to keep pace with global developments and leverage best practices and modern technologies, thereby supporting the development, efficiency enhancement, and sustainability of Kuwait’s power system.
