Minister of “Affairs”: Referral of suspicions of harming public funds in the “Disability Authority” worth 1.211 million dinars to the Public Prosecution

The Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, announced the referral of facts and allegations concerning damage to public funds at the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities to the Public Prosecution, to take the necessary legal measures against a number of officials and employees.

In a statement to KUNA, the minister said that this referral is the second within a week and comes as part of the continued approach of oversight, accountability, and protection of public funds.

She clarified that the referral followed the findings of an investigation committee regarding violations related to maintenance works and contracts, as well as instances where payments were made for quantities and works that were found not to have been fully executed on the ground. The value of the damage under investigation was estimated at approximately 1.211 million Kuwaiti dinars (around 3.95 million US dollars).

Minister Al-Huwail stressed that protecting public funds is a responsibility that allows for no leniency, affirming that all violations carrying criminal suspicion will follow their legal course, with administrative and legal measures taken as necessary, efforts made to recover any amounts paid without justification, and the rights of the Authority and public funds safeguarded.

She emphasized that accountability will extend to anyone proven to have been negligent or responsible, regardless of their position, without exception, and that oversight remains ongoing to ensure integrity and proper management of public funds.
