Macron welcomes the integration of SDF into Syrian state institutions: a step that enhances lasting peace and stability

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the official military institutions of the Syrian state. Macron stated on his official account on the X platform: “I extend my congratulations to Syria on the decisive step taken in the process of peacefully integrating the SDF into the Syrian state.” He added, “In Syria, as everywhere, this is how a path toward lasting peace and stability can be built.” He continued, “I commend the commitment demonstrated by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, and the sense of responsibility shown by Mazloum Abdi, commander of the SDF, in this regard.” Macron affirmed that his country would continue to support the transitional phase in Syria, “guided exclusively by the principles of Syria’s unity and sovereignty, while respecting all its components and ensuring the state’s monopoly on the use of force.”
