Issuance of the decision to form the founding board of directors of the Syrian Exporters

The Ministry of Economy and Industry issued a decision yesterday establishing the first interim board of directors for the Syrian Exporters Council, with the aim of organizing the council’s operations and enhancing its role in supporting the export sector and developing Syrian exports.

In a statement posted on its Telegram channel and reported by the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), the ministry said the council would be chaired by Abdul Qader Mohammad Tahan and comprise nine members, including two vice-chairs, two secretaries, and representatives from the sectors of textile exports, food products, logistics, chemical products, agricultural products, handicrafts, and trade, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

The decision stipulated that the interim board of directors would assume the duties and authorities outlined in Decision No. 73 dated April 13, 2026.

According to this decision, the interim board of directors is required to submit periodic reports (or upon request) to the Ministry of Economy and Industry, detailing work plans, achievements, obstacles facing the Syrian export sector, and necessary proposals to overcome these challenges.

The Ministry of Economy and Industry had previously issued a decision on April 13 last year establishing a Syrian Exporters Council as an inclusive professional framework dedicated to exporters’ affairs, operating under the ministry’s supervision and in coordination with the Authority for Supporting and Developing Local Production and Exports.
