This affirmation by the First Deputy came in a press statement issued late the day before yesterday, revealing new details about the largest operation of its kind in the history of the State of Kuwait for the manufacture and distribution of “Larica,” a psychoactive substance. The operation resulted in the arrest of five suspects, including three Kuwaiti nationals and two individuals holding Jordanian and Egyptian citizenship, who were involved in managing a factory for manufacturing and preparing “Larica” capsules for distribution.

The Ministry of Interior stated that the arrest was conducted under the direct supervision of the First Deputy, following intensive security investigations and precise monitoring.

According to the statement, the arrest was conducted under the direct supervision of the First Deputy, following intensive security investigations and precise monitoring that revealed the suspects used three locations. Two of these sites were designated for storing raw “Larica” powder and ready-made capsules, while the third site was converted into a fully equipped factory for manufacturing and preparing the capsules. The Ministry explained that the factory was equipped with a large industrial machine for capsule manufacturing, similar to those used in pharmaceutical factories, along with machines dedicated to filling and packaging. The capsules were being packaged in containers designed to mimic genuine pharmaceutical products issued by authorized companies.

Five Tons and 4 Million Capsules

The Ministry stated that inspection operations resulted in the seizure of approximately five tons of raw “Larica” powder, nearly 4 million ready-to-distribute capsules, a large industrial machine for manufacturing and filling capsules, complete machines and tools for packaging and preparation, cash amounts, and a firearm (pistol). The Ministry of Interior estimated the total market value of all seized items at approximately 150 million Kuwaiti dinars.

Fear of Penalties

Preliminary investigations, according to the statement, revealed that one of the suspects confessed to refraining from distributing the seized quantity and limiting himself to storing it, due to fear of the severe penalties stipulated by the new anti-narcotics law.

The Ministry noted that this serves as clear evidence that the legislation has achieved its deterrent effect before these toxins reached the hands of users.

The Ministry of Interior concluded its statement by confirming that the suspects and seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them, while efforts are ongoing to arrest anyone proven to be involved in this case.
