"Foot Youth" departs from Thailand to Cambodia

The Kuwaiti national under-20 football team’s delegation will leave its accommodation in Thailand today, Friday, en route to Cambodia to compete in Group 7 of the Asian Cup qualifiers. The qualifiers will be held in a centralized format, and Group 7 includes, alongside the “Azur” (Kuwait), the host nation Cambodia, Japan, and Yemen.

The national team had held a training camp in Bangkok since the 14th of this month, during which it played two friendly matches: a 1-0 loss to Iraq and a 1-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates, with the goal scored by promising player Aayed Majed.

It is expected that, upon completion of technical and physical preparations, the technical staff led by Croatian coach Virdo Milin will have finalized the starting lineup that will participate in the qualifiers, following three external and domestic training camps as part of the preparatory program.

Before departing for Thailand, the “Azur” played two friendly matches in Kuwait against Jordan, losing both 1-0. Prior to that, the team held a summer training camp in the Netherlands from the 9th to the 27th of the month, during which it played several matches against teams matching the age group of Kuwaiti players.

In a separate development, the draw for the under-17 Asian Cup qualifiers, held yesterday, placed Kuwait in Group 7, which also includes host Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Brunei. The qualifiers will take place from November 8 to 20 next year.
