Mourinho: Mbappe’s actions are ‘insane’... and the victory makes everything wonderful

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho praised his team’s performance after their 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in a rescheduled first-round La Liga match, noting that “Los Blancos” struggled in the first half before showing a strong display after the break. Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Mourinho said: “Real Sociedad is a very good team and caused us difficulties in the first half. I wished for a short break around the 20th or 25th minute so I could speak with the players.”

On Kylian Mbappe’s performance, he added: “There’s something I don’t like and sometimes have to do, which is talking about a player individually, but what Kylian did was insane.”

Reflecting on his return to the Santiago Bernabeu, Mourinho explained: “It’s even more beautiful and wonderful; winning makes everything great.” This marked Mourinho’s first official appearance at the Santiago Bernabeu in more than 13 years.

Mbappe established himself as the star of the match by scoring a hat-trick in the 40th, 60th, and 80th minutes, while Brazilian star Vinicius Junior added a goal in the 68th minute. Real Sociedad’s only goal was scored by Croatian player Luka Sucic in the 44th minute.

The 15-time European champions moved to six points with their second consecutive win, while Real Sociedad suffered their second straight defeat, following an earlier 1-0 loss to Real Betis.

Meanwhile, the third round of La Liga kicks off today, with Racing Santander facing Elche and Deportivo Alaves taking on Villarreal. Tomorrow, Levante will play Real Betis, Real Sociedad will host Espanyol, and Sevilla will take on Atletico Madrid.
