The Block Prevents Contracting with Violators

Kuwait officials: Car rental agencies begin blocking contracts for drivers with unpaid traffic violations

Al-Anbaa learned that car rental offices and companies have begun refusing to complete rental contract procedures for individuals who have outstanding unpaid traffic violations.

A source stated that this measure follows the General Directorate of Traffic’s linking of the “block” system, applied to individuals with traffic violations, to the violation inquiry systems used by car rental offices and companies. When an inquiry is conducted, any unpaid violations are displayed, preventing the completion of the rental process until the individual settles the outstanding fines.

After the violations are paid and the “block” is lifted, the vehicle rental procedures can be completed and the vehicle handed over to the customer.

This measure is part of the Ministry of Interior’s, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, strategy to enhance mechanisms for collecting outstanding traffic fines and curbing their accumulation, by expanding electronic integration between violation systems and relevant authorities and sectors.

The source emphasized that linking violation inquiry systems with car rental offices and companies represents an additional step in the electronic collection framework, ensuring that outstanding fines are settled before individuals benefit from services related to vehicle rentals. He noted that electronic integration accelerates the violation inquiry process, facilitates payment procedures, and strengthens integration between government systems and entities providing vehicle-related services, aligning with the Ministry of Interior’s direction toward digital transformation and the development of public services.
