Minister of Social Affairs: Protecting youth from the scourge of drugs is a national priority requiring concerted efforts
Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Dr. Amtal Al-Huwaila affirmed that protecting society, with youth and children at the forefront, from the scourge of drug abuse is a paramount national issue that requires concerted efforts and a unified front to confront this menace, which threatens the fabric of the family and society. This statement was made by Dr. Al-Huwaila in her speech at the closing ceremony of the comprehensive national media awareness campaign for drug prevention, “A Nation That Protects You,” organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs at the Four Seasons Hotel, with participation from various government, civil society, and private entities, under the patronage and attendance of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef.
She stated that the “A Nation That Protects You” campaign has demonstrated that the cohesion and collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs, government entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector constitute the fundamental pillar for the success of any national initiative. She added that the campaign’s objective was not merely to launch a temporary effort, but to establish a sustainable preventive culture, emphasizing the resolve to hold the campaign annually and to attract more active partners to participate in it.
She stressed the importance of sustaining the awareness momentum to deepen the family’s role in supporting its children, building bridges of communication and trust with them, and guiding them toward safe and confidential treatment channels provided by the state, without fear or hesitation.
She expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, for his patronage and support of the campaign, as well as to the ministers, entities, partners, sponsors, and all those who contributed to the success of its activities, seminars, and the dissemination of its awareness messages to society.
