Sisi: Armed Forces at 'Full Readiness' to Competently Defend Egypt and Its Assets

Cairo - Khadija Hamouda President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed that the armed forces are “fully prepared” to defend Egypt and its resources against any external threats.

Speaking during his attendance at the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday at the Strategic Command headquarters in the new capital, President el-Sisi said: “Allow me, on this blessed occasion of our gathering, to reassure you once again about the vigilance of the Egyptian state and all its apparatus regarding everything related to our national security. I also emphasize that we are exerting our utmost efforts to advance and develop the state in all fields, and we are striving diligently and sincerely to improve citizens’ living conditions.”

He added: “I affirm that the Egyptian armed forces are fully prepared and ready to defend Egypt and its resources with distinction against any external threat. I closely and directly monitor combat readiness levels and field efficiency on a continuous basis.”

His interest was not confined to the military institution alone, but extended to other state affairs, aiming to improve conditions and provide radical solutions to accumulated and inherited problems over decades, as well as continuously addressing any difficulties or shortcomings that arise in the delivery of services to citizens.

He stressed that he had directed the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy to exercise direct and meticulous supervision over electricity bills, avoiding arbitrary estimates, and facilitating the process for citizens to settle outstanding amounts due, including considering the possibility of paying off arrears. He noted that he had also directed the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade to continuously regulate markets, maintain ongoing field follow-up, expand initiatives, and open government sales outlets.

President el-Sisi continued: “I affirm the directives issued to the Minister of Transport regarding the necessity of completing all public transport projects within the set timeframes, and of issuing guidelines and continuously improving road conditions.”

In this context, and in light of the repeated tragic traffic accidents, he directed the Minister of Interior to have the Ministry of Interior conduct continuous traffic campaigns to ensure strict traffic discipline on the streets across the entire republic, and to enforce violations and swiftly take legal action against them.
