Traffic Department: 36,800 violations, 998 accidents, 128 fugitives and violators apprehended, and unlicensed drivers caught in a week

Kuwait officials: The General Directorate of Traffic revealed that its traffic campaigns, conducted from August 17 to 23, resulted in the issuance of 36,800 traffic violations of various types, including serious offenses such as exceeding speed limits, running red lights, using mobile phones while driving, and improper lane changes without signaling.

During these campaigns, authorities apprehended 128 wanted individuals and unlicensed offenders, including 70 foreigners whose residency permits had expired, 51 wanted persons, and seven juveniles caught driving vehicles belonging to their relatives without valid licenses. These juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Court, and legal measures were taken against the owners of the vehicles involved.

Regarding traffic accidents handled by traffic police, a total of 998 incidents were recorded: 883 involved material damage only, while 165 resulted in injuries or fatalities.

The statistics also indicated that 25 violators were referred to preventive detention, and 26 vehicles were impounded due to violations related to tinted windows, safety, and structural integrity, among other infractions. Additionally, traffic police apprehended two individuals exhibiting abnormal behavior.
