Al-Shabab meets Al-Jahra, while Salima faces Al-Nasr

Two matches are scheduled today as part of the first round of the Zain Premier League. In the first match, Al-Shabab will face Al-Jahra at Al-Ahmadi Stadium’s Al-Awal venue, while in the second, Al-Salmiya will host Al-Nasr at their home ground. The Premier League is being held for the first time with 12 participating teams, and competition among the clubs is expected to intensify.

Al-Shabab, backed by a Brazilian coaching staff comprising head coach Wagner Adriano and five players in defense, midfield, and attack, alongside local squad members, aims to capitalize on the home advantage and secure their first victory. The club struggled in the previous season, facing the threat of relegation before the league format was revised.

For his part, Al-Jahra, under the supervision of coach Ahmed Abdul-Karim, has made recent changes to its roster and hopes to perform better than in the last season, which saw a change in the technical staff following a decline in the team’s performance.

In the second match, Al-Salmiya returned from a training camp in the Turkish city of Izmir, where Bahraini coach Ali Ashour assessed his team’s readiness. The club has refreshed its foreign players and is aiming to compete for the title after a long absence from the top tier. Meanwhile, Al-Nasr benefited from its training camp in Cairo, playing several friendly matches under the guidance of national coach Zahir Al-Adwani, who finalized the selection of the appropriate players for the starting lineup.
