Al-Qasr Honors the U-17 National Team for Winning Bronze at the Arab Championship

The Kuwait Volleyball Federation honored the Kuwaiti junior national team for securing third place and the bronze medal at the Arab Men’s Under-17 Championship.

Dr. Jaber Al-Mari, the federation’s president, told KUNA on the sidelines of the award ceremony held at the federation’s headquarters in the Sheikh Saeed Al-Abdullah Sports Hall, that the recognition was a tribute to the efforts of the players, technical staff, and administrative team, and underscored the federation’s commitment to developing the sport and enhancing Kuwait’s standing in international sporting arenas.

He noted that the team underwent a month-long training camp in Cairo under the guidance of Tunisian coach Mohamed Al-Sheikh ahead of the tournament, which took place in Bahrain from August 7 to 17. Kuwait finished third after defeating Algeria 3-0.

Al-Mari added that the junior squad delivered an outstanding performance in its first-ever experience and participation outside Kuwait, achieving a high ranking in the championship despite challenges such as the suspension of local competitions and a prolonged absence from competitive matches. Nevertheless, the players rose to the occasion.

He clarified that the federation recruited the Tunisian coach, who boasts a distinguished track record with several national teams, and who is dedicated to nurturing young players as the foundation for the future, focusing on their development and preparation for upcoming competitions.
