Al-Yousef: Kuwait to host a major sporting event in December

Kuwait Football Association President Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef said that the Al-Arabi vs. Kuwait match, which marked the start of the Zain Premier League, saw significant fan attendance despite the hot weather. He noted that all Gulf leagues have kicked off due to scheduling constraints and external competitions.

Al-Yousef indicated that he will announce major events to be held in Kuwait next week, which will surpass the scale of the French Super Cup held last year. One of these events is scheduled for December next year, while the other will take place after the conclusion of the Asian Cup, set to be held in Saudi Arabia in January next year.

He explained that the national team will hold a training camp in Doha before Gulf Cup 27, but there will be difficulties in assembling the squad due to Kuwaiti players being with their clubs for the AFC Champions League Two.

Al-Yousef clarified that the First Division will launch following the Gulf Cup, with more than one team participating, including the Police Club. He added that several companies are interested in participating, and negotiations are ongoing for their inclusion in the 2026-2027 league season.
