Healthcare company admits to a "mistake" in the trial of the late Maradona!

An Argentine healthcare company has admitted that the medical tests presented in the trial concerning the death of the late Argentine football legend Diego Maradona belonged to his father, who shared the same name. In a letter reviewed by Agence France-Presse, the company “Swiss Medical” acknowledged that the tests it submitted to a medical commission investigating Maradona’s death “were mistakenly recorded under the name Diego Armando Maradona,” when in fact they belonged to his late father, Diego Salustiano Maradona.

Maradona Sr. died in 2015, five years before his son, who is considered one of the greatest football players in history, passed away.

The error was discovered last week by a lawyer representing one of the seven healthcare workers standing trial in the case of the death of the Napoli legend in November 2020 at the age of 60.

The 1986 World Cup winner died from heart failure and acute pulmonary edema—a condition in which fluid accumulates in the lungs—at a rented home in Tigre, a suburb of Buenos Aires, two weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain.

His medical team is accused of providing inadequate care in the period leading up to his death, but they deny the charges.
