City signs Alan from Palmeiras

Brazilian club Palmeiras has reached an agreement to transfer its young winger Alan to English side Manchester City for 40 million euros ($46.6 million), a source at the Brazilian club told Agence France-Presse.

Alan, 22, is a product of the club’s prolific youth academy, which has recently exported players such as Estevao (to Chelsea) and Endrick (to Real Madrid) to Europe.

According to the source, Palmeiras and Manchester City have reached a “verbal agreement” regarding the deal, which has not yet been formalized.

Alan made his debut for the São Paulo-based club last year. This season, he has scored four goals and provided three assists in 21 Brazilian Serie A matches, a competition that Palmeiras currently leads after 24 rounds.

Alan also scored one goal and provided two assists in eight matches in the Copa Libertadores, helping Palmeiras reach the quarter-finals.
