Awareness Booth to Promote Environmental Sanitation under the Slogan “Prevention is Better than Cure”

The Ministry of Health hosted the second environmental sanitation awareness pavilion for 2026 at The Avenues Mall yesterday, under the slogan “Prevention is better than cure,” in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mondher Al-Husaini, as part of its efforts to enhance awareness of environmental sanitation and disease prevention.

In a press statement, the Ministry noted that the pavilion, organized by the Medical Insects and Rodents Control Department, showcased the department’s field environmental sanitation efforts from November 2023 through July 2026. These efforts included monitoring and addressing thousands of environmental observations, in collaboration with public health service departments across various health regions and relevant authorities.

According to the statement, Dr. Fatima Al-Darwish, Head of the Medical Insects and Rodents Control Department, emphasized that environmental sanitation is a shared societal responsibility. She explained that the pavilion focused on raising awareness about reducing factors that contribute to the spread of insects and rodents, as well as pollution, while encouraging recycling and sound environmental practices.

Dr. Al-Darwish added that the department’s services are available around the clock via the Ministry of Health’s hotline (151), by selecting option 6, as well as through the “Salem” mobile application. Environmental sanitation comprises a set of essential measures and services aimed at protecting human health by creating a clean, safe environment free from disease-causing agents and pollution.
