Pakistani Army: Talks with Iran focused on halting escalation, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and achieving peace

The Pakistani military announced that Islamabad and Tehran exchanged views on regional peace during a visit by Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Iran. According to a press statement issued by the Pakistani military’s media wing, Munir and Naqvi concluded a one-day visit as part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to end the current crisis, explore ways to achieve lasting peace, and definitively resolve instability in the region. The statement clarified that the Pakistani delegation met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Supreme Leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaee, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. It reported that “comprehensive talks focused on measures to prevent further escalation, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and expedite an end to the conflict.” It noted that both sides also exchanged views on regional peace and ways to reach a negotiated settlement to conflicts, highlighting that Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and sincere efforts in facilitating dialogue, de-escalating tensions, and achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
