67 violations for ground line infractions and turning without signaling; 62 vehicles referred to impoundment

The General Directorate of Traffic conducted an extensive traffic campaign covering various areas of the country, as part of efforts to enforce traffic discipline and enhance road safety, while curbing violations and behaviors that pose risks to road users.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the campaign resulted in the detection of 67 traffic violations, including failure to comply with overtaking rules and regulations, disregard for road markings, exceeding the speed limit, failure to use turn signals when turning, and parking in prohibited areas, along with several other traffic offenses.

The ministry clarified that traffic officers referred 62 vehicles and motorcycles to vehicle impoundment lots, pending the initiation of legal proceedings against the violators.

The ministry emphasized that these campaigns are part of ongoing field efforts to strengthen traffic discipline, raise compliance with laws and regulations, and reduce improper driving behaviors, thereby contributing to the safety and security of road users and fostering a safer, more stable traffic environment.

Notably, the General Directorate of Traffic did not rely solely on fixed cameras or traditional field campaigns; it also employed portable cameras carried by traffic officers from atop bridges to monitor and document violations from elevated positions, diversifying traffic surveillance methods and intensifying monitoring on the roads.
