The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development announced that the Gulf Insurance Group, on its own behalf and on behalf of its subsidiaries in Kuwait—represented by Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance Company, the Gulf Cooperative Insurance Takaful Company, and the Bahraini-Kuwaiti Insurance Company—has contributed $2 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund.
This contribution adds to the pool of national donations supporting the fund, thereby strengthening its resources earmarked for financing priority interventions and projects. It also reflects growing national engagement with the initiative, as institutions from various sectors continue to join, helping to broaden the base of supporters and enhance the fund’s capacity to respond to the most urgent and impactful needs.
The Kuwait Fund emphasized that the contribution by the Gulf Insurance Group and its subsidiaries, given the group’s prominent presence in the local and regional insurance sector, underscores the active role played by the private sector in supporting national initiatives and backing priorities that serve Kuwait.
The Gulf Insurance Group is one of the leading insurance companies in Kuwait and the region. Established in 1962, it offers a comprehensive range of life, general, and Takaful insurance products and services for individuals and businesses, through its presence in Kuwait and several regional markets.
It is worth noting that the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was launched on July 5 last year, under an initiative by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and with the approval of the Council of Ministers. The Kuwait Fund was tasked with managing and overseeing the fund’s operations, aiming to provide a flexible financing mechanism to support priority interventions and projects, and to enhance the state’s capacity to address emergency needs and circumstances efficiently and effectively.
