American trio in "Al-Abyad Basket"

Kuwait officials: The board of directors of Al-Kuwait Club, chaired by Khaled Al-Ghanim, has signed contracts with the American trio of Shinano Onwuka, Christian Brown, and Dai Dai Grant to strengthen the senior men’s basketball team for the 2026-2027 sports season.

The “White Team” has begun its training sessions early under the guidance of Serbian coach Dusan Stojkovic, in preparation for the “Golden Square” playoffs of the general league, which were postponed due to the developments in the region over recent months. The club also awaits tough matches in the “Final Eight” tournament for Asia’s top teams, hosted by Lebanese club Al-Hilal from September 25 to October 1 next year. The tournament features nine clubs: Al-Kuwait, Al-Ola and Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia, and Al-Arabi from Qatar, representing West Asia in the Gulf region. Also participating are Al-Hilal, the tournament host and a fellow Lebanese club, its compatriot Al-Riyadi, Iranian club Shahrdari Gorgan, Kazakh club Astana, and the Indian Railways team, champions of the Indian league.
