Condemnation of the terrorist attack targeting an Internal Security Forces bus in the outskirts of Damascus
Saudi Arabia has expressed its condemnation and strong rejection of the terrorist attack that targeted a bus belonging to the Internal Security Forces in the countryside of Damascus, Syria, resulting in injuries to several members of the force. In a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom’s solidarity and full support for all measures undertaken by the Syrian government to combat all forms of extremism and terrorism, expressing wishes for peace and security for Syria and its brotherly people, and praying for the swift recovery of the injured.
The Muslim World League also condemned and strongly denounced the terrorist attack on the Internal Security Forces bus in the Damascus countryside. In a statement, the League’s Secretary-General and Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, reaffirmed the League’s firm stance rejecting and condemning violence and terrorism in all their forms and under any pretext. He expressed the League’s solidarity and full support for the Syrian government’s efforts to combat extremism and terrorism, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The explosion of a bus belonging to the Internal Security Forces near Damascus the day before yesterday resulted in several injuries among its personnel, according to the official Syrian news agency (SANA). SANA quoted a security source as saying that “an improvised explosive device targeted a sleeper bus belonging to the Internal Security Forces on the Ma’arouna-Al-Tel road in the Damascus countryside, causing several injuries among the personnel,” without specifying the number of casualties. SANA noted that investigations are ongoing “to identify the perpetrators of the terrorist act.” SANA published an image showing a damaged bus by the roadside, with shattered windows and one of its doors broken, while glass was scattered across the front seat.
