"Bayt Al-Mal": 108,000 existing housing applications by end of June 2026, up 10.7%

A report by Kuwait Finance House on the local real estate market during the second quarter of 2026 stated that the Public Authority for Housing Welfare continues to fulfill citizens’ requests for suitable housing. According to the authority’s latest report on its housing projects in June 2026, the number of pending housing applications reached 108,000, representing a 10.7% increase over the last statistics released by the authority in the third quarter of 2025. This rise may be attributed to citizens’ keenness to benefit from the anticipated real estate financing law. The authority managed to provide more than 42,000 services to citizens during May 2026, reflecting an increase in the authority’s operational and service activity. It also announced that the first phase of the Real Estate Developer Program attracted interest from the private sector, with the qualification of real estate developers for the first three residential projects to be announced shortly.

Kuwait Finance House noted that the Public Authority for Housing Welfare made tangible progress in completing some planned projects during the second quarter of 2026. It also announced the launch of several tenders to implement and complete infrastructure in new cities, including main road works in South Sabah Al-Ahmad, which reached an execution rate of 78.2%. Actual execution rates in infrastructure contracts stood at 52.6%, reaching 54.7% in the second contract. The authority also made progress in main road maintenance contracts in South Saad Al-Abdullah City, achieving an execution rate of 65.1%. It made significant progress in the implementation of the Affordable Housing Project, with an execution rate of 43%. The authority is currently implementing approximately 276 public buildings across various housing projects, including 170 buildings in Al-Mutlaa City, 74 buildings in the Affordable Housing Project, and 17 buildings in the Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential Area.

During the second quarter of 2026, the authority signed several new contracts, including three new construction contracts with a total value of 29.9 million Kuwaiti dinars, as part of infrastructure development projects in Al-Mutlaa Residential City and the Affordable Housing Project. These contracts aim to develop the main road network and enhance electricity supply.
