Japan Successfully Launches New Earth Observation Satellite

Rocket Lab successfully launched its Electron rocket, carrying the Japanese QPS-SAR satellite into low Earth orbit. The company stated in a press release that the space mission lifted off from its Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand and successfully placed the satellite into a circular orbit at an altitude of 575 kilometers. The QPS-SAR satellite is part of a constellation of satellites designed for Earth imaging using radar technology, enabling high-resolution images of the Earth’s surface under various weather conditions. This launch marks the 93rd flight of the Electron rocket and the ninth QPS-SAR satellite deployed by Rocket Lab. Rocket Lab noted that this mission is part of its ongoing collaboration with Japanese company IQPS to deploy its Earth observation satellite constellation.
