Nakashima defeats Fritz to reach Cincinnati Open semifinals

American Brandon Nakashima, ranked 22nd in the world, continued his strong performances after defeating his compatriot Taylor Fritz, the ninth seed, 7-6 (9/11), 4-6, and 6-3 in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals of the Cincinnati ATP Masters 1000 tennis tournament. Meanwhile, Czech player Sara Bejlek continued her remarkable run, having already eliminated top seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, and then defeated American Madison Keys, ranked 24th, 3-6, 6-4, and 7-6 (5/7). In the men’s draw, the semifinals will feature an all-American matchup, as Nakashima will face Francis Tiafoe, ranked 23rd, who edged past Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, the 15th seed, 7-6 (2/7) and 7-5 in a match that went down to the wire.
