Majed to "Al-Anba": Salwa Al-Sulaybiyah deserves the "Excellent" rating

Hadi Al-Anzi: The head of the Al-Salmiya Club’s board, Hamoud Majed, praised all the players and the technical and administrative staff after the club won the First Division title and secured promotion to the Zain League Premier Division. Al-Salmiya topped the table with 44 points, ahead of second-placed Al-Sahel on goal difference, after defeating Al-Jazira 1-0 in the final matchday of the First Division. Al-Sahel was promoted alongside them, while Al-Yarmouk (43 points) remained in the First Division despite their 3-2 victory over Al-Sahel in the final round.

Deputy Chairman of the Football Association’s Board of Directors, Diyan Al-Dayan, and FA Secretary-General Dr. Saleh Al-Majroub attended the ceremony honoring Al-Salmiya’s league title.

Majed emphasized that promotion to the Premier Division was the result of three consecutive seasons of hard work and dedication, backed by strong support from the club’s chairman and board members.

Speaking to “Al-Anba,” Majed said: “Since the formation of our board, we established a clear strategy, securing several local and international transfers to serve the team’s best interests, strengthen its strengths, and address weaknesses in the squad, under the guidance of Portuguese coach Antonio Miranda. Not reaching the Premier Division in two consecutive seasons only strengthened our resolve to work harder and persist.”

He noted that the final eight matchdays of the league were exhausting for all players after a long and demanding season.

Majed pointed out that playing in the Premier Division is entirely different from the First Division, adding: “The levels differ significantly both technically and physically. We will strive to present Al-Salmiya in the best possible light, despite the tough competition. There will be no major changes to the squad, except for a few limited signings targeting specific positions, without disrupting the overall structure. This team is the product of three consecutive seasons of continuous work.”
