The "Alliance of the Willing" meets tomorrow to renew its support for Ukraine on the anniversary of Kyiv's independence

The “Coalition of the Willing” countries will meet tomorrow, on the anniversary of Kyiv’s independence, to reaffirm their support for Ukraine, according to a statement issued by the French presidency. The meeting will be held via video conference and co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Ten leaders, including European Council President Antonio Costa, will participate in the meeting from Kyiv, according to an EU official. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) announced that Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska will join the meeting online. Last July, the sixteenth session of the “Coalition of the Willing” was held with 37 members, including the Ukrainian president. During that meeting, the coalition announced additional air defense systems for Kyiv, as well as training for the mission expected to be deployed in the event of a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the upcoming elections for the State Duma (parliament) would confirm his country’s stability and its ability to counter any external threats. This was stated in a speech delivered by Putin yesterday during the second phase of the 23rd Congress of the ruling “United Russia” party, held in Moscow. Putin said, “I am confident that the upcoming elections will confirm the stability of the Russian state, the maturity of its political system, and its ability to withstand any external threats and aggression.” He added, “Victory will be our ally.”
