Video: Four Expatriates Arrested for Exploiting Their Positions at “Telecommunications” to Steal Diesel

Officials from the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Capital Governorate Criminal Investigation Department, have solved the mystery of four cases involving diesel theft and the sabotage of telecommunications towers in the Jabir Al-Ahmad area, which had been registered against unknown perpetrators. They apprehended four Indian nationals in the act.

The arrests followed intensified search and investigative efforts, leveraging modern technological means and monitoring of telecommunications towers. Investigations revealed that the suspects were employed by a contractor responsible for tower maintenance, and they exploited their job duties to siphon off excessive quantities of diesel.

The Ministry of Interior stated that the suspects used part of the extracted diesel to compensate for shortages in other towers, while appropriating the remaining quantities for sale, taking advantage of their work nature, which granted them access to the towers and their locations. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing these offenses over a two-year period across various sites. Investigations also uncovered their involvement in similar incidents in different governorates across the country.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed that inventory and investigative efforts are ongoing to identify all incidents linked to the suspects and determine the volume of appropriated diesel, with a view to referring them to the competent authorities for necessary legal action. It reiterated its commitment to pursuing perpetrators of theft and protecting vital infrastructure and facilities, and to dealing firmly with anyone who exploits their professional role to tamper with or harm national interests.
