Fire Department source to Al-Anbaa: Leaving vehicles in open lots requires precautions

Kuwait officials: Firefighters launch investigation into the causes and circumstances of a fire that broke out in several vehicles in a dirt lot in the Khaitan area. The incident, handled by firefighting teams from the Farwaniya Center on the day before yesterday, was brought under control and extinguished without any injuries.

A source in the Fire Force told Al-Anbaa that the investigation will examine the causes of the blaze and whether any factors contributed to the fire spreading from one vehicle to another. He noted that determining the final cause of the fire falls under the jurisdiction of investigative authorities after completing technical procedures.

The source simultaneously warned about the dangers of high temperatures during the summer season for vehicles, especially those parked for extended periods under direct sunlight or in open lots. He emphasized the importance of regularly checking the safety of electrical systems and ensuring that vehicles are free from any fuel or oil leaks, as well as avoiding leaving flammable containers inside them.

He stressed the necessity of conducting regular vehicle maintenance and addressing any electrical or mechanical faults immediately upon their appearance, while avoiding overloading electrical connections and refraining from leaving electrical devices or accessories running unnecessarily, particularly during periods of high temperatures. He confirmed that rising temperatures do not necessarily constitute the direct cause of a fire, but they can increase ignition risks or contribute to the rapid spread of flames, necessitating additional preventive measures, especially when vehicles are parked for long periods in open areas.
