Turkey issues international arrest warrant against the Israeli Prime Minister on charges of committing 'genocide'

Turkish Justice Minister Akin Kiraz announced that his ministry has requested the Turkish Interior Ministry to issue an international arrest warrant (Red Notice) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as part of the legal proceedings brought against him on charges of committing “genocide.”

In a statement published on Friday via his account on the Turkish social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter), Kiraz highlighted the ongoing judicial process regarding the attack that targeted activists from the “Global Freedom Flotilla” in international waters while they were en route to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

He stated that the 11th High Criminal Court in Istanbul continues to examine Case No. 2026/108, which involves 35 defendants, including the Israeli prime minister and an Israeli official named Avichai Moskovich.

Kiraz clarified that Netanyahu and Moskovich are being tried in connection with the armed attack and the detention of activists in international waters, facing charges that include “crimes against humanity,” “genocide,” “aggravated deprivation of liberty,” “intentional harm,” “torture,” “damage to property,” “described looting,” and “kidnapping of transport vehicles.”

The Turkish Justice Minister affirmed that Turkey, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will continue to stand with the Palestinian people and the human conscience, taking all necessary steps to bring those responsible for crimes against humanity to justice.

On October 1, the Israeli occupation army attacked 42 vessels belonging to the “Global Freedom Flotilla” as they sailed in international waters toward Gaza, arresting hundreds of international activists aboard and transferring them to Ketziot Prison before beginning their deportation on the third of the same month.

The genocide in Gaza has resulted in more than 73,000 deaths and over 174,000 Palestinian injuries, most of them children and women, and has caused destruction affecting 90 percent of the infrastructure.
