Mufti of Tripoli Welcomes Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques: Your Visit Affirms the Kingdom’s Historic Policy of Supporting Lebanon

The Grand Mufti of Tripoli and the North, Sheikh Muhammad Imam, welcomed the visit of the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Dosari, to the Dar al-Fatwa in Tripoli. Sheikh Imam stated, “His Excellency the Ambassador chose Tripoli, perhaps for his first visit outside Beirut, which is a significant gesture toward Tripoli and the North, reflecting special affection. This visit reaffirms the historical policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia toward Lebanon as a whole and all Lebanese people, underscoring its support, love for Lebanon, and steadfast presence by its side.”

He added, “We are pleased that His Excellency Ambassador Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Dosari dedicated this visit to the Dar al-Fatwa, a gesture we highly appreciate. The meeting with him was profoundly spiritual, which is natural within the Dar al-Fatwa, and it reflects Tripoli’s enduring and continuous fabric, as well as the bright image of this city. His Excellency is well aware of this and has praised it, demonstrating his deep insight into the Lebanese reality.”

The Mufti praised “the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia toward Lebanon and the region,” emphasizing that “Lebanese people view the Kingdom with great love and appreciation for its support of Lebanon,” noting that it serves as “a cornerstone in the region.” He also highlighted that “the resumption of land exports from Lebanon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represents a step that will bring relief and easing to Lebanon.”

The visit of the Saudi Ambassador to the Dar al-Fatwa in Tripoli was attended by: the Secretary of the Dar al-Fatwa in the city, Sheikh Bilal Baroudi, head of the Waqf Department; Sheikh Bassam Al-Boustani, head of the Waqf Department; His Eminence Metropolitan Ephrem Kriakos, head of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Tripoli; and a representative of the Maronite Archdiocese of Tripoli, His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef Soueif, represented by Archpriest Antoine Mikhael and Father Michel Skaf, representing the head of the Greek Catholic Melkite Archdiocese of Tripoli, Metropolitan Edouard Dagher. Also present were two representatives of the head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Sheikh Ali Qaddour: Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Karim, a member of the Council’s Sharia Board, and Sheikh Ahmad Assey, director of the Council President’s office.

Earlier, the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Dosari, led Friday prayers in Tripoli, with the Grand Mufti of Tripoli and the North, Sheikh Muhammad Imam, serving as the imam. The Ambassador’s presence was widely welcomed by worshippers, who eagerly gathered to greet him.

On another note, the head of the “Karama Current,” MP Faisal Karami, welcomed the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon during his first visit to the Karami family’s Dar in Tripoli. Karami affirmed that “the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been, and will remain, a fundamental pillar of Arab stability, and a sister nation whose ties with Lebanon are rooted in history, transcending political circumstances and changes.”

He expressed appreciation for “the role played by the Kingdom, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, in supporting Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty, and legitimate institutions.” He stressed that “Lebanon, which seeks to restore its political and economic health, can only do so by restoring its natural and deep relations with its Arab neighborhood.”

Karami emphasized that “Tripoli and the North view the Kingdom as a historical sister, given its special place in the hearts of the city’s and the North’s residents, and for what the Kingdom has provided to Lebanon and the Lebanese over decades.”

Karami and Ambassador Al-Dosari discussed the political situation in Lebanon, current developments and their implications for the country, as well as Lebanese-Saudi relations and ways to strengthen them. The meeting underscored the importance of “the upcoming phase, and the necessity of safeguarding Lebanese stability and enhancing its Arab relations, in a manner that serves Lebanon’s interests and people, and preserves its sovereignty and Arab role.”
