Syrian Foreign Minister and Pakistani Army Chief Discuss Regional Developments and Strengthening Defense Cooperation

The Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan, General Asim Munir, held talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaybani on developments in regional security conditions and ways to enhance defense and security cooperation between the two countries. The Public Relations Department of the Pakistani Army stated in a press release that the meeting took place between the two sides at the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces in Rawalpindi, as part of Minister Al-Shaybani’s visit to Pakistan. The statement added that the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, alongside developments in the regional security situation and prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of defense and security. The statement clarified that Munir emphasized the deep historical fraternal relations linking Pakistan and Syria, and outlined his country’s vision regarding global peace and regional stability, stressing the importance of cooperation and concerted efforts to address common security challenges. For his part, the Syrian minister praised the professional role played by the Pakistani Armed Forces in supporting peace and stability in the region. According to the statement, both sides reaffirmed their determination to continue enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in the fields of defense and security.
