"UNIFIL": Committed to maintaining a clear field presence in the south, and every effort we make contributes to preventing escalation
UNIFIL stated in a statement that “peacekeepers from around 50 countries continue to fully commit to their mandate, maintaining a clear field presence across southern Lebanon through daily activities, including patrols, monitoring, coordination, and support for humanitarian partners.”
It further noted in its statement that “civilians bear the brunt of the burden, as the conflict disrupts their daily lives; families face uncertainty and may be forced to displace, amid concerns for their safety.” It emphasized that “every effort made by peacekeepers to reduce tensions, prevent misunderstandings, and keep communication channels open contributes to preventing escalation.”
Highlighting that “instability is not in anyone’s interest,” UNIFIL announced that it “continues to urge all parties to renew their commitment to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, to halt violations of the resolution, and to avoid any provocative acts that could heighten tensions or lead to further violations.”
