Deputy Minister of Health: Enhancing the capacity of primary healthcare facilities to respond to the growing demand for services

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah, conducted a field visit to several health centers in the Mutlaa area, to follow up on operations and assess the level of services provided and their alignment with the growing health needs of the area’s residents. This visit is part of the Ministry of Health’s approach of direct oversight of health services in new residential areas.
During the tour, the Undersecretary inspected several clinics, departments, and support services, and reviewed patient flow, appointment booking and scheduling mechanisms, and service delivery pathways. He also heard briefings from officials and health staff on consultation rates, the nature of services provided, and key operational needs.
He met with several patients, listening to their feedback and experiences regarding the services rendered. He emphasized the importance of field oversight as a practical tool for directly identifying needs and challenges, and working to address them in a way that enhances the quality of healthcare and the patient experience.
The Undersecretary also discussed with medical, technical, and administrative officials and staff ways to improve the operational efficiency of the centers, support their staffing and equipment needs, and optimize the use of available resources. These efforts aim to strengthen the capacity of primary healthcare facilities to respond to the increasing demand for services.
He stressed the importance of aligning the expansion of health services with the population and urban growth in Mutlaa and other new residential areas, through continuous planning based on the actual needs of each area. This approach aims to enhance access to healthcare, as well as the sustainability, quality, and efficiency of services.
He commended the efforts of the staff working in the health centers, reaffirming the continuation of field visits and coordination with relevant sectors to support the needs of healthcare facilities and enhance their performance efficiency. These measures are intended to keep pace with the development of the healthcare system and meet the needs of citizens and residents.
