Kuwait Customs officials in Al-Nuwaysib seized two firearms and 19 rounds of ammunition during an inspection of a vehicle arriving in the country. According to details, a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol and 16 rounds were found inside the vehicle’s glove compartment. Additionally, before the self-declaration inspection began, the driver handed over another firearm, a 6.35 caliber AYVAZ pistol, along with three rounds that were in his possession. The seized items were secured and referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
On a separate note, the General Directorate of Customs renewed its awareness campaign for travelers regarding the obligation to declare cash when entering or leaving the State of Kuwait. It emphasized that any person carrying currencies or negotiable financial instruments on their behalf equivalent to 3,000 Kuwaiti dinars or more must declare their value to the Directorate.
The Customs Directorate clarified in a new awareness circular that the declaration requirement applies to both incoming and outgoing travelers, noting that failure to declare the specified amount of money exposes the violator to legal accountability.
