Case closed on TV theft from a representative's vehicle in Hawalli with the arrest of a building guard in Qibta

Kuwaiti officials were able to close a television theft case in the Hawalli area by arresting an Egyptian building security guard in the Khaitan district. A security source confirmed that a surveillance camera near the scene of the theft helped identify the thief’s physical description and license plate number, which expedited the suspect’s arrest. The suspect admitted that he was experiencing financial difficulties and stole the television, selling it at a discount of more than 70% below its original value. Notably, the suspect sold the device to a fellow Egyptian, who then shipped it to his home country.

The source added that the buyer of the stolen device claimed he was unaware of the theft, noting that he purchased it at such a low price under the assumption that the seller was facing financial hardship and had lowered the price for that reason alone.

In detail, an Indian national reported to the Hawalli Field Police Station that he was working as a delivery agent for an electronics showroom. While his vehicle was parked in Hawalli with a television valued at 420 Kuwaiti dinars inside, which he was preparing to deliver to a customer, he discovered that the television had been stolen, without accusing any specific individual.

The source stated that the case was referred to the Criminal Investigation Department, which conducted inquiries and examined the crime scene. It was found that a camera had recorded the suspect committing the theft and captured the getaway vehicle, a white sedan. Authorities then contacted the General Directorate of Traffic, which identified the suspect and his place of residence. Security forces proceeded to his residence and confirmed that he worked as a building security guard.
