Launch of the Third Conference on Pediatric Hematology and Oncology on September 4

AbdulKarim Al-Abdullah: Dr. Sandus Al-Sharideh, President of the Kuwait Children’s Association, announced the launch of the Third Conference on Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, scheduled for September 4–5. She noted that it is the first Gulf conference dedicated to pediatric hematology and oncology, serving as a specialized scientific platform that brings together a select group of experts and consultants from within Kuwait, as well as leading regional and international medical and academic centers. The conference aims to showcase the latest scientific advancements and therapeutic developments in the field of pediatric blood disorders and cancers.

Dr. Al-Sharideh stated that this year’s conference features a diverse scientific program that keeps pace with the rapid evolution in this specialty. Topics include pediatric hematologic malignancies and solid tumors, bleeding and clotting disorders, inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, immune disorders, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, as well as gene therapy, precision medicine, and long-term care for cancer survivors. The conference will also discuss the latest diagnostic tools, innovative treatments, and challenges facing clinical practice in this field.

She added that the conference will host a distinguished group of international and regional experts from prestigious institutions, including Imperial College London, Johns Hopkins University, Children’s National Hospital, and Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Children’s Hospital, alongside a select group of physicians and specialists from Kuwait and the region. This will enhance the exchange of expertise and foster scientific collaboration between local and global institutions.

She emphasized that the program extends beyond scientific lectures to include specialized educational and training workshops targeting physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. These workshops aim to translate modern scientific knowledge into practical applications that improve the quality and efficiency of care provided to children with blood disorders and cancers. The conference also seeks to consolidate Kuwait’s position as a regional scientific hub in pediatric hematology and oncology, while promoting continuous medical education, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, thereby directly contributing to the development of healthcare services and the improvement of care quality and treatment outcomes for children.
